

Elvira was born on March 30, 1926, in Chicago, moving to South Haven with her family during the depression. She later went on to become a nurse’s aide at South Haven Community Hospital, where she would work for many years and eventually retire. She was very active in her children’s lives, and enjoyed many crafts, such as ceramics and crocheting. Elvira was a lover of animals, and was actively involved in the Humane Society, as well as providing a home for many dogs and cats. She was a big sports fan, and loved to follow the Detroit Tigers. She had a passion for life, and will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Santo and Frances Lio, brother, Adolfo Lio, sister Dora Cochran, and son-in-law and Fernan Hernandez.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 6:00-8:00pm at the Church of the Epiphany, 410 Erie Street, South Haven, MI 49090. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society.
