

Frances Broekhuis, 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, January 13, 2018. She was born on July 7, 1925 in Dorr, Michigan where she worked on her parents’ produce farm alongside her 12 siblings. Consequently, she knew the value of hard work. She was a retiree of Herman Miller. Her hobbies included traveling and gardening. She was deeply rooted in her Christian faith. Frances was a loving mother and grandmother who would selflessly give of herself to tend to the needs of her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald, daughter JoAnn, and several brothers and sisters. Frances is survived by her daughter Judy (Al) Avink, daughter Karen (Dave) VanDeWege, son Jerry (LuAnn) Broekhuis; by grandchildren and great-grandchildren Mark (Staci) VanDeWege (Riannan, Connor), Tami (David) Rigterink (Drew, Jace, Taylor), Todd (Katelyn) Broekhuis (Emma, Madelyn), Chad (Kelly) Broekhuis, Joni (Ben) VanMaastricht (Levi, Caleb). She is also survived by brother Frank (Dorothy) DeBoer, sisters Mabel Bolhuis, Evelyn VanDussen, sisters-in-law Marge DeBoer and Joyce DeBoer.
A celebration of life service has been scheduled for Saturday, February 3 at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church, 918 Central Avenue in Holland. There will be a time of visitation with the family members at 10:30 a.m. followed by an 11:00 a.m. service. She will be interred at the Bentheim Cemetery.
