Gordon Eugene Alderink

Gordon was born on June 28, 1927, the son of John and Nellie Alderink of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Gordon graduated from Creston High School in Grand Rapids in 1945, from Hope College in Holland in 1950 and from Western Theological Seminary in 1953. He also served in the U.S. Navy in 1945-1947 in the Pacific.

On June 12, 1952, Gordon married the love of his life Marian VanderJagt. Gordon was a pastor for five parishes in his liftetime serving in Muskegon, MI; Fulton, IL; Acher, IA; Fennville, MI; Stone Ridge, NY and retired in 1990. Gordon was a volunteer at Holland Hospital for seventeen years. Gordon and Marian were members of Second Reformed Church in Zeeland.

He will be lovingly remembered by Marian his wife of 62 years and by their children Kathy and Harlan VanRhee, Gordon and Sally Alderink, Janice and Dave Bilek, Ruth and Mike Rush, Nancy and Eric Boone, and Marcia and Bill Roberts-Mikels. They have 27 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 6, at 11 a.m. at Second Reformed Church located at 225 E. Central Ave. in Zeeland. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 4, from 1-3 p.m. also at Second Reformed Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association or to the Second Reformed Church mission fund. Burial will take place at Fairplains Cemetery in Grand Rapids, MI.
