Jeff was born on November 22, 1965 in Saginaw, Michigan and raised in Frankenmuth, Michigan. He attended pharmacy school at Ferris State University and earned his Doctor of Pharmacology at the University of Florida in 2003. He married Janet Wehrly October 26, 1991 and raised his family in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He retired from Spectrum (Corewell) Health after 30 years as a pharmacist to prepare for his bone marrow transplant from his brother, Tom, as his matched donor.
Jeff was fondly known as “Stretch” by his friends and family and was a lifelong outdoor and sports enthusiast. Jeff began trail running in recent years and completed his eighth 50K trail run shortly before his diagnosis. A year after recovering from his bone marrow transplant, he traveled extensively with his wife Janet, primarily in an RV visiting friends and National Parks across the US. This past summer he visited Ireland for the first time, hiked one of his favorite trails in the Smoky Mountains in October, and was kayaking in the ocean only a month ago. He was a huge supporter of Michigan sports teams and was thrilled with the recent wins by our Lions and Wolverines.
Jeff is survived by his wife of 32 years, Janet (Wehrly) Conzelmann, their son, Joel (Chicago, IL); parents, Judie and Tom (Frankenmuth, MI); brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Linda (Saline, MI); sister-in-law and brother-in-law Gretchen and Greg (Cape Coral, FL); several nephews, nieces and their families; special cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kate; his brother, Theo; and his sister-in-law, Patricia Conzelmann.
