Jeffrey Dean Kreun

Jeffrey Dean Kreun, age 64, of Holland, MI, returned to his Creator on March 22, 2022, after courageously fighting and living with brain cancer for 6 years. Jeff was born on July 10, 1957 and graduated from West Ottawa High School, Grand Valley State College and it’s Police Academy. He retired from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department after 28 years of service.

Most important to Jeff was his faith in God and love for his family. Jeff was known for his infectious laugh, his generous spirit and his fun loving ways. He had a special gift of listening to others and gave of his time freely. Jeff was an avid outdoorsman; hunting, fishing, hiking, kayaking anything outdoors. He loved a good campfire with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Smith; father, Charles Kreun; parents-in-law, Erwin & Christine Newenhouse. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara (Newenhouse) Kreun; daughter Elizabeth Marie & Nick Meints; granddaughter, Luna Marie Meints; son, Gabriel D. Kreun; grandson, Weston Gunnar Kreun; step-father, Gerald Smith; siblings Steve & Peggy Kreun, Doug & Pam Kreun, Gwynne & Mark Hedden, David & Renee Kreun; In-laws Vickie (Terry-deceased) Grasman, Jim & Kristie Schreiber, Judd & Lori Newenhouse; nieces, nephews and step siblings.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Beechwood Reformed Church, 895 Ottawa Beach Rd, Holland, MI, on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at 2:00 pm. A family gathering is planned for this coming summer at Jeff’s brother and sister-in-law’s home in Alaska in loving remembrance of their brother and uncle.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial contribution to Iglesia Alas de Aguila/Eagle’s Wings Church or Redeemer Christian Foundation, Inc.
