Jonathan is survived by his children, Thomas, Tabitha, Theodore and Tristan; his mother, Helen Brockmeier and her partner, Ken Taylor of Holland; his sister, Mary Beth Lampe; nephew, Brock Lampe; and brother-in-law, Cliff Lampe of Ann Arbor.
Jon graduated Holland High School in 1992, and Hope College in 1996. Hope College was a large part of Jon's life. His father graduated from Hope in 1959, returning to teach in the Physics department until his untimely death in 1993. Jon grew up nurtured in the community and intellectual curiosity of the college and his family, with a special love of astronomy and ham radio gleaned from his father. Jon began working in the college's department of Computing and Information Technology in 1998. His skill set and interests were broad; he was known for his enthusiasm, his resolve to find solutions, and his kindness toward all around him. He was an avid supporter of Hope's co-curricular programs, seen often in the stands or at events with his family. Besides his work at Hope College, Jon was an active member of Hope Church and passionate about technology and science. Most of all, he was a committed father who loved his four children very much.
Services will be Saturday, September 27, at 1 p.m. at Hope Church in Holland.
In lieu of flowers, a fund has been set up for his children: https://www.crowdrise.com/brockmeierchildren/
