

Josefina is survived by her children: Ruben Sandoval, Rodolfo "Rudy" Sandoval, Ricardo "Richie" (Leticia) Sandoval, Rebecca "Becky" Sandoval, Rita Kershner, Rene "Ronnie" Sandoval, and Rosa (Adam) Zuniga. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Crystal Sandoval, Erick Sandoval, Omar (Paul W.) Sandoval, Aimee (Jenaro) Castillo, Adam (Jena R.) Sandoval, Alma (Jason) Valenzuela, Daisy Figueroa, Cecilia Sandoval, Alma Olivarez, Alejandra (Adrian L.) Olivarez, Jasmine (Ralph) Leal, Josiah (Jennifer) Zuniga, and Elia Zuniga. Her great-grandchildren include Lil Erick Sandoval, Jasmine Sandoval, Romeo Sandoval, Amaya Sandoval, Jace Sandoval, Sophia Castillo, Maximillian Castillo, Gavin Sandoval, Angel Sandoval, Isabelle Valenzuela, Olivia Valenzuela, Destinee (Antonio B.) Nolan, Oriah Mancilla, Diego Mancilla, Leanna Pulido, Maximus Pulido, Christian Phiakeo, Dominic Phiakeo, Aiden "Javi" Phiakeo, Isaiel Lugo, Fabian Olivarez, Isaih Leal, Savannah Leal, Layla Leal, Adriana Leal, Nathan Leal, Ralphie Leal, Laila Zuniga, Cassidy Zuniga, Wade Zuniga, Penelope Zuniga, Emiliano Zuniga; and great-grandchildren Novalie Hernandez, Giana Bargas, and Jacob Leal, not to mention many nieces and nephews, as well as many other loved ones.
Josefina is also survived by her siblings: Guillermo Guerrero, Rosa Castorena, Petra Castro, Carmen Castro, Rene (Minerva) Castro, Margaret (Ron) Bare. Her in-laws include Josie Sandoval, Karen Sandoval, Francisca Sandoval, Ofelia Martinez, and Luciana (Nicolas) Perez.
Josefina was predeceased by her husband, Max Sandoval; her parents, Gregorio Castro and Rosa Lugo; her siblings, Noe Castro, Hermenegildo (Guadalupe) Castro, and Maria E (Marcilio) Collazo, Pedro (Refugia) Castro, Cruz Martinez; her son-in-law, Antonio Olivarez Jr.; and her grandson, Joshua Sandoval and Great granddaughter Saniya Sandoval, also numerous relative members on both sides of the family.
Josefina is a child of God; her faith has kept her going all these years. She was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church of Holland and Emmanuel Baptist Church of McAllen TX. She dedicated her time to others in need without a second thought. Local missionary work was a passion of hers. She instilled a tremendous work ethic to others and wore various different hats in life as a wife, sister, mother, daughter, friend, nurse maid, taxi driver (until the age of 89) driver instructor (to friends and family), and culinary cook, Tamales were a specialty of hers. Travel was a passion of hers and often went where needed.
She will truly be missed by all whose lives she came across; she was the salt of the earth to all who loved her.
Visitation will be held on December 18, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a funeral service from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Both services will be held at Lakeshore Memorial Services (11939 James St. Holland, MI 49424)
