Julia Mae Grant

Julia was born in Chicago Oct. 4, 1952 to John and Penney (Jenks) Black, and was raised in Alsip, Ill. She was a proud graduate of St. Mary of Nazareth Nursing School in Chicago, Ill, and became a life-long nurse with over 46 years of practice. She began her career at Little Company of Mary Hospital and ended at Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, Ill in 2020. Julia enjoyed summers at her family’s cottage in Pullman, MI, and retired to Holland in 2020. She was a fierce mother, daughter, nurse, sister, "MomMom," "Gamber," and friend, who loved all of those around her well; and will be forever cherished through that love by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband William John Grant Jr.

Julia is survived by her children, William (Adele) Grant Jr, Sarah (Jacob) Joriman, and Jenney (Liz Cambier) Grant; grandchildren Richard Joriman, Jack Grant, Alice Joriman, Addison Grant, Miyahna Cambier-Grant, Montrell Cambier-Grant and Margot Cambier-Grant; her mother Penney Black; brothers John Black and Tim Black; sister Jenny Cucci; many extended family and friends.

A memorial celebration of Julia’s life will take place in Chicago, Ill at a later date.
