I worked with Marcus at Hops. I really admired Marcus for his great work ethic at work but also at home. He really loved his girls and talked about them often. I had a lot of fun working with Marcus, he was a funny dude and we always seemed to have fun no matter what situation our day brought us. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Marcus Ryan Cook, I met you in the sixth grade. You were the cool kid. You were all the young ladies favorite crush. The only class we shared was a swim class and I was baffled how this guy could seem to hover halfway out of the water. You were so naturally talented and athletic.
Later in our teens we bonded a friendship. Our friendship grew and we chose each other as brothers. I wish I knew the volume those words would carry. I will find that twinkle of your eye in the eyes of your daughter. And I will do everything I can to honor you in the eyes of your baby girl.

Marcus Ryan Cook, You will be missed dearly. And remembered fondly.

My husband and I both worked with Marcus when he was at Hops.  We both remember him fondly.  He had a great sense of humor and was always making us laugh.  He worked hard and cared about the staff personally.   He talked about his girls often.  His love for them was so evident.  He made work fun and over the years since working together, he still would touch base to see how we were.  He was one of a kind and will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.  Your family will be in our hearts and minds.  I can’t imagine the pain of losing him; May you feel comfort over these next weeks, months and years.  And May his laugh and smile flash into memory often.

We've spent countless hours together and made a million memories, that will be cherished forever. We started out as friends, and quickly considered each other to be family. Words could never properly express the bonds we've created or times that we've shared. From restless teenagers, to proud parents and everything in between... Marcus, you will always hold a very special place in our hearts. We've laughed together, cried together, lived, and learned together. We will miss you forever, and love you always. Thank you for making the best playlists, for teaching us to golf, thank you for all of the adventures and great times, and thank you for always being there if things got tough. We love you, Brother

For many years of my life, Marcus was my favorite person on the planet.

The world will never be the same without his smile or his laugh.

I wanted to share the memory of the first time  Marcus was trying to change Layla when she was only a week or so old. They were at my house and he changed her diaper but he had to change her onesie as well. He was so scared he was going to hurt her that it took him 30 min to get her onesie off and another 45 minutes to get a clean one back on. He kept asking is this ok am I doing this right? He just kept saying I’m so damn scared I’m going to break her so something. It was the cutest thing I had ever seen but also so funny. I still can’t tell the story with out laughing. After an hour he finally had the onesie back on and wrapped her in a blanket- then he looked at me and said Jen can you watch her for a minute I’ve got to step outside and smoke and then I will be back to finish- his face was beat red and he had sweat pouring off of him! He went out for a smoke break and then came back to “ tackle putting her pants and socks back on. I offered to finish dressing her but he told me that day how much it meant to him that he learn to take care of Layla -it took him almost 1 1/2 hours to have her all redressed- and by that time she was almost due to be changed again- I wish I had taken a picture of his expression when I mentioned that- He just said WHAT!  He looked at baby Layla and asks her - How  the hell does anyone ever get anything else done-????  that’s when I about fell down laughing.

Sure will miss this man.  Loved his children.  Always kind to me, respectful, he also loved Nic Hurley and his family.  So sorry Marcus's family hearts are broken.  Praying for peace and understanding for the hearts. Huge hugs to all.
