Susan Harkema

Born and raised in Holland, Sue-Z graduate from Holland High School in 1972. Her son Steven Wayne Harkema was born in 1976, but had not been in this area in over 10 years. Steve is currently living in Maine with his wife and daughter. Sue-Z was a dedicated and active member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary (Post 2144) in Holland. She always gave 100%+ when asked for any assistance. Many people only knew her as “The Bingo Lady”. All who knew Sue-Z loved her and her sense of humor.

Preceding her in death were her parents, LeRoy and Shirley Sybesma, as well as many relatives and friends.

She is survived by Larry Colter, her constant and faithful “significant other” for 20 years. Larry and many of his family members dearly loved Sue-Z. Others who survive her and grieve her passing are her brother’s family (David and Jean Sybesma) and her sister’s family (Liz and Tom Dirkse); many nieces, nephews, grandkids and dear friends.

A celebration of Sue-Z’s life and love will be held at a later date.
