Our hearts go out to all of Al's family. He was so very kind to us in the last almost 2 1/2 years now since the crash that took Caroline away from all of us. Even though his pain and grief in losing his daughter was more than anyone should have to endure, he was always so good about consoling us! David Lowenstein/NetJets pilot. I flew with Alan only one time, it was only for four days. But it was last month. I don’t know Alan well but what I do know is that he loved you his wife and his children very very much. He spoke of you with pride. The few days we spent together flying his spirits were high when he found out my wife and children are practicing Catholics. He has such a deep rooted faith that not many people have. One thing I am sure of is that he sitting in heaven right now with your daughter and his heart is full. To hear about his passing came of a great shock to me since we just flew together. I do know He was greatly saddened by the loss of your daughter, I hope he found some inner peace before he passed. If anyone is one with God it would be Alan. We spoke of the Bible For almost our entire trip. I am saddened by your loss and even though we have never met I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

May his memory be eternal before God. I flew many flights with Al when we were stationed together in Corpus Christi, TX, and Miami, Fl. He was always fun to be around and a safe pilot and good officer.

Dalila, I wish to express my heartfelt condolences and sympathy to You and all of Al's fmily. I first met Al right after Swab summer in New London. Al was my first Wife, (roomate) as we started our academic year at the Coast Guard Academy. During that semester we shared and endured many "adventures" as well as our quiet times together in our indoctrination into Academy life. In our close, but relatively short time together, Al left a profound and lasting impression on me which I still cherish and carry today. Over the years, even though we both became pilots (on different coast) our paths grew diverse as we pursued our careers. But even when our paths did cross at reunions and as pilots both flying for USAir, we could pick up like we were just out of the Academy. I never mentioned it to Al in as many words, But I have always had a soft spot in my heart for Al and the many things we shared. I will miss him tremendously. He was an inspiration to me and I believe to many who knew him. The world is a lessor place for his passing. One can only be consoled knowing that our loss is the hereafters gain. Rest in Peace my Friend.

LCDR Jim Wright - I've known Alan for over 50 years. He was a few years older than me, but we attended the same elementary school and high school. Attended the same church growing up. While he was attending the CG Academy, I was at UF on a Navy scholarship. He married my elder sister and we became family. I attended flight school in Pensacola a few years after Al. He played guitar and sang at my wedding. Over the years our two families shared many holidays together and one trip to the Florida keys together. Our children grew up grew up together as close cousins. Our family photo albums are full of great pictures of our five children together having fun. He was a great young man to "follow in his footsteps" as we both retired from our respective services with successful flight careers. He was an awesome brother in law. Deepest condolences to his family.

Alan was a friend since our youthful days at St. Patrick's Elementary School in Largo, Fl through our shared 'enjoyment' in USCGA, and into our Coast Guard careers. He was a wonderful and sincere person with a great perspective on life. I am sure his family and friends will miss him always. God bless you Alan!.

Alan and my father (Jim Freeman) were classmates and football teammates at the Coast Guard. I saw Alan in February when he presented a football award for my late father. He was so nice and I really enjoyed his company. I'm very sorry to hear about his passing. I take some condolences in that he has a friend waiting in heaven. What a shock and great loss this is. Al’s been my friend since June of 1972, when we started out at the Coast Guard Academy as classmates in the great Class of 1976. During Swab Summer, we were in the same section, SECTION ONE, with a bunch of other legendary individuals. He actually came up with our section’s nickname – the SOB Squad – which, as no one would guess, stood for “Sweet Ol’ Babies!” I vividly remember our first real conversation during that first day at CGA after our traumatic haircuts. We were down at the Infirmary in mass, stripped down to our skivvies, getting about a dozen shots and going through the paces of our initial physicals all before lunch time. Al, being right behind me in line, kept telling me: “Man, you’ve got a wide-ass foot!” But other than feet, we had a lot in common. Al and I were about the same age (he was born just 16 days before me), and I remember us both being 6’1” and staying at around 190 lbs. Since we both played center on the Academy football team, we competed against and pushed each other for four years as teammates. And we both hated centering punts. We spent a lot time together in the Billard Hall weight room and worked out on the decks of the EAGLE during the summer of 1973, when all we had was push-ups, sit-ups, a jump rope, and seasickness to keep us in shape. So, I can attest to Al’s toughness and strength—and his friendship. Al picked up the nickname “Rock” along the way, and he was just that—a loyal rock-solid genuine friend and Christian. He had a big heart and a great sense of humor. I have always admired his tenacious attitude and what he has accomplished, especially as a career aviator. I have been blessed by Al’s friendship and the experiences we had together. Al was a true brother...it was a blessing that we met in June of 1972 at the Coast Guard Academy and stayed friends throughout his CG career and life. After the Academy and our first tour afloat, Al and I went to flight school together and pinned on our Wings together. We hung out together at flight school and helped each other get through the demanding training. Al was humble and devoted man, always willing to lend a helping hand and with his quick wit, a laugh to lighten the day. My fondest memory was when Al completed his final course work and last flight at Whiting Field! He thanked God for blessing him with a good flight and passing grades!! He kissed the tarmac and gave me a big hug as he headed to his final debrief and locker to stow his gear. We went our separate way after flight school but would always look each other up at any aviation gathering or during our annual instrument checks at ATC Mobile. Al was a good pilot and safety officer...when he stood the watch we were in good hands. Joe Dannenfeldt - USMC / NetJets pilotI had the privilege of flying with Al on multiple occasions with NetJets. I was a Marine, and with Al being a Coastie it made for an entertaining week of cockpit banter. After work was complete for the day, we were able to share stories of our families back home. Al shared with me the heartbreak when he lost his daughter, the love he had for his children and the devotion that he carried for his wife. Although I didn’t know Al “well”, from talking and spending time with him you immediately knew what a fine man he was. “Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon them. May Alan Rest In Peace. Amen.”

Alan was a true man of God: he loved Dalila, he loved his family, loved his friends, and served his Wellspring Family abundantly. To the Family and Relatives of my lifetime friend, Al Sine. I first met Al when I was 17 at the Coast Guard Academy, as he was my first roommate Swab Year.
