Hernandez, Alfonso, 80, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at his residence. He was born September 9, 1933 in Villeta, Colombia to the parents of Alfonso Diogenes & Maria Leonor "Velasquez" Hernandez. Alfonso is survived by his loving wife Lucy and children, Nestor Hernandez of Hudson, OH, Evelyn (Jeff) Blatherwick of Harrisburg, PA and Alfredo (Maria) Hernandez of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren, Melissa, Christian, Jesse, Daniela, Andrew, Matthew and Jaime; 1 great grandchild, Ayden; seven sisters, Lucy, Frances, Susana, Martha, Clara, Elsy and Piedad. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 11:00 am at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 2533 SW 9th Ave. Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33315. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:30 till service time. Inurnment to follow at Lauderdale Memorial Park.
