Alicia Stephenson

Alicia Una Elaine Stephenson, also known as "Lici" or "Angel", 41, of Miami, Florida, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017, inpatient at Memorial Regional Hospital after a fifteen year battle with scleroderma and its complications.

Alicia was born in Kingston, St. Andrews, in Jamaica, West Indies, on March 19, 1976, daughter of R. George and Una Stephenson. Alicia and her family lived in Kingston, Jamaica, until she moved to the United States with her mother and two sisters in 1983, living first in Bronx, N.Y., then in Miami, FL. Alicia graduated from Norland Senior High with honors, then the University of Miami where she received a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Planning.

At the time of her passing, Alicia was a Commission Reporter in the Clerk of the Board Division of Miami-Dade County. Her co-workers considered her a significant member of their team. She was also active as a devoted sister to her older and younger siblings as well as involved in the lives of her nieces, nephew and godson, all while managing the challenging symptoms of her illness.

Survivors include her loving sisters Natalie Stephenson-Sam and Stephanie Paul. In addition, she is survived by her nephew and nieces, Joshua (Joshy) Sam, Zoe-Noelle Sam and Isadore Paul, who knew her as Auntie Lici. She also leaves behind her beloved Godson, Marcus Harper. Alicia also had many dear Aunts and Uncles who were like second parents to her, as well as many first and second cousins.

Visitation will take place on Friday, December 1, 2017, from 5:00 ~ 9:00 P.M. at Fred Hunter's Hollywood Memorial Garden Home, 6301 Taft Street Hollywood, Florida. Funeral service will commence on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 10:00 A.M. at Norland United Methodist Church, 885 N.W. 195 St., Miami, Florida. Reverend Margaret Kartwe will officiate. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will follow at Hollywood Memorial Gardens Cemetery and repast will be served at the Barnes Hall of Norland United Methodist Church.
