

Ann Marie (Ferguson) Walker, 93, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2020 in Holy Cross Hospital Hospice, Ft Lauderdale, Florida. Born November 28, 1926 in Glen Ridge, New Jersey to John Charles and Anna Ridings Ferguson, Ann attended Bloomfield schools and graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1943. She worked as a secretary in the West Orange Schools until she married George E. Walker Sr. on November 23, 1950 in Bloomfield.
The family settled in Iselin, New Jersey in 1953 where they raised three children. Ann was extremely involved in PTAs in the Woodbridge Township School District including a founding officer of the J.F. Kennedy High School Marching Band-Band Parent’s Association where she and her husband were instrumental in fundraising to support the band’s appearances in the 1969 Peach Bowl, Atlanta, Georgia; 1970 St. Patrick’s Day Parade, NYC; and, 1970 Orange Bowl, Miami Florida. In 1959, Ann started her career at Bamberger’s (Macy’s) in Menlo Park, New Jersey where she was a senior sales manager until her retirement in 1988. While at Macy’s she was well known for planning employee celebrations and recognitions and delivering many memorable poems about her co-workers.
Ann was an avid Giants fan alongside George, tailgating in the early morning at Giants Stadium before all home games and attending two Super Bowls. Upon retirement, Ann and George moved to Century Village, Pembroke Pines, Florida, where she was involved in many clubs and was president of the Friendship Club. Since leaving Pembroke Pines, Ann has been cared for at the Forum, Deerfield Beach, Florida; and longer term, Williamsburg Landing Assisted Living Facility, Wilton Manors, Florida.
Preceded in death by parents, her husband George, and her sister, Veronica Ferguson Hickey, Ann is survived by a son, George E. Walker Jr., (Betty Walker) of Forked River, NJ, and two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Monaghan (Michael Monaghan) of Fenwick Island, DE, and, Linda Jean Wenthe (Philip Wenthe) of Hillsboro Beach, FL. She also is survived by her brother, John C. Ferguson of Tarpon Springs, FL and his partner Joseph Weinstein. Ann was adored by her four granddaughters Kelly-Ann O’Connell (Justin O’Connell); Kimberly Elizabeth Kafka (Chip Kafka); Kristin Patricia Chmura (Jeffrey Chmura); and Michele Walker-Carlor; and their children – 8 great grandchildren – Kendall Elizabeth Pfeifer; Nolan John Pfeifer; Caroline Grace O’Connell; Kellen Scott O’Connell; William Scott Chmura; Ethan Michael Chmura; Brigid Maeve O’Connell; and, Ariana Carlor. She is also survived by three loving and cherished nieces. Ann’s family extends their sincerest appreciation and gratitude to her “family” at Williamsburg Landing who loved, engaged and protected her for many years.
A family gathering to celebrate Ann will be held at a later date.
