She was born in Aleppo, Syria on September 11, 1923. She came to America to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Social Work.
She subsequently moved to NY and met her future husband Jack Mekjian. They were married in 1952.
She became a Naturalized Citzen of the United States in 1957.
She subsequently moved to Kansas City, Mo to help her husband during his medical school training.
She then moved to South Florida where she resided until her death. She was an accomplished concert pianist in Syria and Lebanon. She was fluent in 5 languages.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Araxy was always there to offer advice and her opinions.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Jack Mekjian to whom she was married to for 39 years.
She is survived by her son Dr. Michael Mekjian and spouse Debra, her daughter Irene Shirinian and spouse Varouj.
Grandchildren Kelli Ochoa (Paul), David Mekjian (Melissa), Michael Shirinian (Ily), Alexa Shirinian.
Great Grandchildren Alexander Ochoa, Emily Ochoa, Jaxson Mekjian, Noah Shirinian and Ashlynn Mekjian.
Funeral Services will be held on September 20, 2017 at 10:30a.m.
at Fred Hunter's Funeral Home.
