The really, really, really, ridiculously good looking Argelio “Angel” Diaz Novo found peace on January 31, 2026 after a life filled with no bad hair days. Effortlessly cool from day one, Angel sauntered into this world on January 15,1966, the eldest child of Lazara “Sara” Cardona and Argelio Diaz.
Angel is survived by his wife of 11 years, the overly devoted Christie Ashenoff and his proudest accomplishments, sons William and Hunter. Nothing gave Angel greater joy than his boys. As the second generation of “Diaz Brothers”, William and Hunter were the foundation of everything he did in this world. Also survived by his loving mother Sara, younger siblings Andi and Angie Diaz, and his large family including nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, along with more friends than can be counted. He is proceeded in death by his younger brother Alejandro “Alex” Diaz and father Argelio Diaz.
Too much for Miami, Angel traveled to Portland, Oregon in the late ‘90s where he lived until feeling the pull of home in 2010. Little did he know he would almost immediately realize his life’s purpose. It was at this time two strangers were drawn to Mac’s Club Deuce, a place where both felt at home. Sitting on opposite sides of the bar it was here that Angel met Christie, changing both their lives forever. 16 years, 2 kids, and a wealth of love and laughter later, The Deuce is as much home now as it was then. Friends made and family kept, within those walls and beyond his legacy will go on. Angel never met a bar he couldn’t tend or a car he couldn’t mend, he was a jack of all trades and a master of none, he was better than a master of one.
A service in his honor will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026 – the couple’s 11th wedding anniversary – at Hollywood Hills United Methodist Church 400 N. 35th Avenue, Hollywood, Florida 33021.
