

Barbara Ann Tilley, 91, Davie, FL, passed away October 27, 2023 in hospice care at the VITAS Health Care Center in Deerfield Beach, FL. She was born on December 29,1931 in Johnstown, PA, the daughter of Dr. H. C.
Tilley and Sara (Duncan) Tilley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Eleanor (Tilley) Meagher. She is survived by her two sons, Alvis Tilley and John Tilley, and three grandchildren, Fawn
D’Amato, Dakota D’Amato, and Tatonka Tilley, sisters Margaret (Tilley) Barron of Johnstown and Carolyn (Tilley) Walter of Fullerton, CA and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was a 1954 graduate of Slippery Rock University with a bachelor’s degree in physical education with a history minor and obtained a Master of Education degree from Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA. After
college, she spent several years as a recreational leader in France for the Army Special Forces. She taught high school physical education in New Castle, PA, Johnstown (Westmont Hilltop), PA, Baltimore, MD and Toms River,
NJ retiring after 30 years teaching. In addition to teaching, Barbara enjoyed playing numerous sports and was a sports enthusiast, cheering on the Pittsburgh Pirates, and her adopted hometown teams: the Miami Marlins,
Miami Dolphins, and Miami Heat. Barbara was a lifelong Methodist and a member of the Plantation Methodist Church, in Plantation, FL which she and her family attended. She visited Cuba on a mission trip with the church
which generated many fond memories. Barbara was an active member of the Park City Mobile Home Park where she lived for many years. Barbara was a caring person with a very kind heart. She was quick to help anyone in
need. She was beloved by her family and many friends and will be deeply missed. She truly had the ability to always see the good in people and a selfless determination to create positive change in her community.
A celebration of life event will be held at Fellowship Hall in Park City this Friday, November 3 at 12:00pm and a committal service will be conducted at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Johnstown, PA in the coming weeks.
