He is survived by a brother and many nieces and nephews, including Melanie Gool of Ocala, FL. Born in Erie, Pennsylvania on February 13, 1922. He worked as a machinist and later a warehouse manager for Sears Roebuck. He served in the Air Force during WWII and was part of the air campaign in Italy. He was shot down and listed as missing in action until it was found that he was a Prisoner of War. After his return to the States, he and Leona lived in Erie until they transferred to Sears Roebuck in Florida where he worked as a delivery driver and later as warehouse manager until he retired.
He was a member of the Margate American Legion. Benny will be remembered for his quick wit remarks and his friendliness. The family is grateful to Margate Manor and to Hospice for the care he received.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 16th at 10:00 A.M. at St. Malachy Catholic Church 6200 North University Drive, Tamarac. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
Mr. Obrien will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Leona, with full military honors at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida.
