Volcey Elizabeth Chin-Lenn, affectionately called "Betty" (née Powell), was born on February 3rd, 1943 in Flagaman, Jamaica to the late Isaac (Boney) Powell and Clarissa Powell; (and also to the late Margaret Powell who was her adopted mother).
Betty was married to the late Arthur B. Chin-Lenn (Boysie) on April 20th, 1974 in Kingston, Jamaica.
She is survived by her son Oral (Lorenzo), Grandchildren Alexander (Alex), Alexia (Lexi), and their mother, Frances; Ezekiel (Zeke) and his mother Karlla.
She is also survived by her siblings Glenford (in Scotland), Weevil, Altimon, Hessie, several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends to mourn their loss.
Betty was educated in Kingston, Jamaica. She worked with several companies in Jamaica- Jamaica Permanent Building Society and Jamaica Public Service for several years.
She migrated to the USA in 1978 and worked at the Home Savings Bank for 17 years, ending in 1996. She then retrained in the healthcare field and retired in 2008.
Betty was an active member of Epworth United Methodist Church from the early 1980's until her passing.
Betty was very loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by all. May her soul rest in peace.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held 11:00am to 2:30pm at 6301 Taft St., Hollywood, FL 33024. Arrangements are by Fred Hunters.
