Bevelley was born on July 31, 1930 to Hilda Thomas and Ivan Menzies in St. Mary, Jamaica. In the late 40's she moved to Kingston where she met and married the love of her life Richard Clarke in October 1951. Bevelley and Richard were married for 51 years until his death in 2002. Together they had 5 children Lloyd, Lorraine, Michael, Dawn and Cheryl.
In the late 50's, the family moved with four children to the United Kingdom, and in the 60's welcomed their fifth child. In the UK, Bevelley worked as a nurse in pediatrics and later at a psychiatric hospital in greater London. In the 70's, Bevelley and her family moved to Brooklyn, NY where Bevelley worked as a nurse and was also granted a license in her favorite field of cosmetology.
Bevelley was a fun-loving, positive and encouraging person. She always looked for the positive in everything and everyone. Bevelley loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and family so much. She was not only their Grandma but their friend and confidant. She always loved to listen to others and loved to tell others about Jehovah and his promises in the bible.
Bevelley was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in March 1993, while attending the Pembroke Pines Congregation (now West Hollywood Cong.) Bevelley would always tell everyone that one of her greatest joys was attending the Pure Language District Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1990. It was her first convention and she was amazed by the love that was shown throughout the meeting and to her personally. She knew she wanted to learn more. Bevelley loved attending the meetings and being there with the brothers and sisters even in her most painful state. She loved her ministry and enjoyed inviting everyone she could to the memorials and conventions. "She would always say " I wish I knew Jehovah when I was younger."
We take great comfort in knowing she is in Jehovah's memory and look forward to the time when all sickness and death will be no more. Rev 21:3, 4.
