

Candace Gamwell McMillan, known to friends as "Candy", passed away on April 30, 2018, at the age of 62.
Candy was born in Rhode Island and grew up in Tallahassee, Florida. After a successful career at Flowerwood Nursery in Cairo, Georgia, Candy relocated to Hollywood, Florida where she worked as a Media Specialist at Hollywood Central Elementary. She was a passionate advocate for animals in her volunteer role with the Humane Society of Broward County.
Candy was very talented and gifted in the business of creating beautiful spaces. Whether in her home, her amazing backyard garden or helping her friends and family with similar challenges. Candy thrived on entertaining and bringing people together. She often planned parties for friends and co-workers and never shied away from a new recipe, learning a craft or a volunteer opportunity.
Candace was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jack McMillan. She is survived by her mother, Betty (Moore/Gamwell) Allen of Tallahassee, brother John Gamwell (Helen) of Tallahassee, stepchildren Justin and Erin, nephews John and Reece Gamwell of Tallahassee, and granddaughter Finley Jean. Candy believed that life was much better with at least one animal and she dearly loved all her dogs. She leaves behind Bo, Cricket and Bubbles.
Memorial donations in memory of Candy can be made to the Humane Society of Broward County 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33312.
