Carlos was born in Bogota,Colombia on May 16, 1933. He was the 4th child (3rd son) of Carlos Henao, and Elvia Duque. He attended and graduated from the Private School of Gimnasio Campestre. At the age of 25, he decided to move to New York City, to pursue a career in banking and and to achieve his dream of making it in the US. He was soon drafted into the US Army, where he proudly served for two years, stationed in Fort Dix, NJ and Panama City. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he returned to Colombia, moved to Cartagena where he started his own business, and met the love of his life, Carmen Alicia Samur. They had two children together, Carlos Arturo and Martha Lucia. His dream of returning to the US never dwindled, and in 1969 he began the process of moving his family to Miami.
Once in the US , Carlos had many odd jobs, never afraid of any task or challenge. He eventually started his own business, Inexpa, Inc, along with Carmen, and ran a successful Import/Export Business until the financial status of his clients changed drastically. He then decided to go to work with the City of Miami-Dade as a Maintenance Supervisor, until his retirement at the age of 67.
Although his Interests varied, Carlos, more than anything was a Family man and loyal Friend. He spent most of his free time and vacation time in the company of his Wife and Kids, and the families of his close friends. In his latter years, Carlos was as devoted a Grandfather as he was a Father and loyal Friend.
Those who knew him best knew him for his sense of humor. He was a great storyteller, teacher, and knew how to put a smile on anyone's face.
