Ms. Cynthia May Ducran transitioned home to the Lord on June 6, 2016. Cynthia was born on March 20, 1933 to Hilda M. Beckford Ducran and Wellesley P. Ducran in Trinityville, St. Thomas, Jamaica. Cynthia was educated at Trinityville Primary and High School, later attending Durham College of Commerce in Kingston, Jamaica. However, Cynthia journeyed to the United Kingdom at the age of 21 in order to pursue her life's passion, a career in nursing. Cynthia attended nursing school in Glasgow, Scotland as well as trained in Edinburgh, Scotland earning dregrees as a Registered Nurse and Mid-Wife from the General Nursing Counsel of England and Wales in 1956.
Cynthia was the proud mother of her two daughters, Michelle and Renee, with her former husband, Dr. Emsley Davis, MD. After settling in Miami, Florida, Cynthia worked on staff at various hospitals including Mt. Sinai Hospital- Miami, Florida; Mercy Hospital- Miami Florida; Baptist Hospital - Miami, Florida and finally focused on private duty as a Registered Nurse across her 35-year nursing career.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her loving father, Wellesley P. Ducran; mother, Hilda Ducran; beloved sisters, Ruby Shepherd and Joan Ducran; brother, Kenneth Ducran and former husband, Charlie Ned James.
Cynthia leaves to cherish her memory - daughters: Michelle Davis Prosper and Renee Davis Prude, Son-in-Law, Brian Prude; former Husband, Emsley Davis M.D.; sisters, Joyce Stennett, Lera Maguria (Madge) Osbourne, Claudette Ducran and Pamela Valland; brothers Headley Ducran with wife Lorice and Aliston Ducran; grand-daughter, Monique Cole with husband Terrence and grandson Sean Prosper; great grandson, Aiden Cole, Aunt Blossom Ducran Chung with husband Vincent Chung and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
On Saturday, June 18, 2016, there will be visitation from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., followed by the Memorial and Homegoing Service at 1:00 p.m., at Fred Hunter's University Drive Home in Davie. To honor Cynthia's love for hats, you are asked by the family to wear a fashion hat to the memorial/celebration of life service.
The Repast will be from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. in the Community Center at the funeral home.
