David, my son, was a good person and I am proud of the many things he accomplished in his short life. Most of all he was loving and caring. Often in his own way. He will be missed but never out of our hearts.
David Alan Pasternak, 45, of Davie, Florida, passed away on August 23, 2018.
The standard Obituary text would normally follow, but David was a special person. What was most important in David's life was his son Holden. He fought to stay alive just to have a few more minutes with Holden. The only time David spoke in the hospital ICU was when he saw Holden and said "Awesome!"
The Sunday before he died we were blessed to have the opportunity to spend the day together at Holiday Park. Driving back all David could say was that was the day was awesome. I am so grateful to have had the time with Holden and David. Just one of many great memories.
As many of you know, David passed from having an Astrocytoma Malignant Tumor. It was said after his surgery and stroke that "he may have a couple of years". He made it over 5 years. In the 5 years, he went through every kind of treatment, enormous pain and many horrible days. I never heard him complain once.
David spent many of his last days with his friends, Paul Giordano; Chris Grillo and Steve Katz. Each one of them were apart of why David survived. When the word friend is used, these people are the definition.
David was always very grateful that Nicole and he were able to remain friends for Holden.
David teethed on camera cable. He grew up in a studio and went on the get his Masters in IT. He was also recognized as an Eagle Scout.
Many of you remember how close he was to his Grandfather Nick (Grumps). Grumps was his best friend. David missed Grumps and always had his picture by his bed side. David and Grumps were our studio team. David's Grandma, Nana Lou, loved him more than life itself.
Growing up, it is impossible to say how close the relationship was with his Mom and sister. They were a team.
For the past 5 years, David and I were one with his friends fighting this horrible disease. He never once said no to a possible chance to find a cure. He just wanted to live and see Holden play basketball.
He went without pain and in peace,
Love
Dad
