Roots deep where faith and family are found.
Hands worn strong by work and years,
Eyes that had weathered joy and tears.
He loved his God without disguise,
Spoke to Heaven with humble eyes.
In quiet prayers at break of day,
He gave his thanks before his say.
He loved his family—fierce and true,
In every laugh and barbecue.
At tables loud with stories told,
His voice was warm, his hands were bold.
A grandchild perched upon his knee
Learned what a steady man could be.
He loved his beer—ice-cold, well-earned,
A simple joy for which he yearned.
A bottle raised at sunset’s glow,
To friends long past and those below.
In clinking glass and knowing grin
Was gratitude for the life he’d been given.
He was a Marine—once and always so.
In spine of steel and heart that glowed.
Semper Fi ran through his veins,
Through sacrifice and quiet pains.
He wore that title proud and straight—
Not for glory, but for faith and fate.
Honor wasn’t words he’d preach,
It lived in calloused hands’ firm reach.
Courage wasn’t loud or wild,
It showed in how he held a child.
Now Heaven’s gained a faithful man,
Saluted home to higher command.
And we who stand with tears that fall
Still hear his steady, guiding call:
Love your God.
Hold your ground.
Stand for family all around.
Raise a glass when day is through.
Be brave. Be loyal. Be strong. Be true.
The only grandfather I ever knew
Semper Fi, Big D
We’ll take it from here.
