

David is also survived by his grandchildren David W Sexton III (Marla Baquerizo) and Camille Sexton-Ehrler (Markus) as well as his brother-in-law Jesse Maffuid, his sister-in-law Janet Maffuid Leavy and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carmelita Maffuid Sexton, his parents Ronald and Martha Wilson Sexton, and sisters Elisabeth, Barbara, and Marjorie Sexton.
David was born in South Glens Falls, NY on June 17, 1920 and lived in Bolton Landing, NY until moving back to South Glens Falls where he attended high school and met his future wife Carmelita.
He joined the Army National Guard in Glens Falls after graduation and was called to active duty being stationed across the US ending up in Oceanside California where he married Carmelita on August 7, 1943. Several months later, David shipped to England where he prepared for the Normandy invasion with the 90th Infantry. His Regiment (359th) was instrumental in pushing deep into France from Utah Beach. One month after D-day, he was struck with artillery fire and was severely wounded keeping him in UK hospitals and later US military hospitals for nearly a year.
His occupational career began as a carpenter then moving on to office machine repair where he opened a Smith Corona dealership which he operated for many years. When he saw an opening in Consumer Protection as Weights and Measures Director, he took the position enjoying many years of service for Saratoga County doing what he enjoyed, being with people. At the same time he was head of the Republican Party in his township and also a Committeeman in his village. He later served as Sargent-at-Arms in the New York Assembly under Governor Nelson Rockefeller.
His most revered moments were those spent in the Adirondacks and on Lake George. An accomplished boatman, he was past Commander of Lake George Power Squadron. His hobbies were numerous including woodcarving, fishing, antique gun restoration.
Dave and Carmelita moved to Plantation Florida in 2014, reluctantly leaving their lifetime home to be closer to family and enjoy a bit warmer weather in their later years.
Viewing for family and friends will be at Fred Hunter's Funeral Home in Davie on Wednesday, September 5th from 1pm-3pm. There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday, September 7th at 2pm at Covenant Village, 9215 West Broward Blvd, Plantation. The event will be held in the Village Center.
David will be interred at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schylerville, NY at a later date.
