Donna Jane Smith, 59, of Pembroke Pines, passed away on August 16, 2022, after a long courageous battle with breast cancer. Donna, the daughter of Lt. Col. William Elbert Smith, of Ocala, Florida, and Joan McCants Smith, of West Palm Beach, Florida, was born into a wandering military family in West Point, New York where her daddy was the Provost Marshall. Her adventure some childhood sparked curiosity and love of travel and exotic cultures.
Donna settled in South Florida where she was one of the first hairdressers for Maggie DiFalco of Maggie The Salon. Her passion helped her mentor many a new hairdresser, teaching them her unique methods and style. Donna cut and styled the hair of several generations throughout the years, including that of her own family. She did it with a flair and personality unmatched by all. She touched so many lives and will always be remembered by her jewelry and hats that always expressed her fun-loving sense of style.
Donna’s smile lit up a room and her happy, outgoing spirit was enjoyed by all. Her coloring was a passion that she joyfully shared with those she loved. We all have a bit of Donna in our colored mats and accessories.
Donna is survived by her siblings, Sharon, Mark (Tina), Carol (David), Gail (Jon) and Clyde (Maria) and all of her nieces and nephews. She was adored by her special friends and is taking care of us from heaven with her mom and dad and grandparents.
Please no flowers, but contributions to breast cancer research would help keep more warriors, like Donna with us.
Her celebration of life will be Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 6 p.m. at Uncle Al’s in Davie at 8200 Griffin Road. Casual and fun. Bring your sense of humor and stories to help us celebrate Donna.
