One of my all-time favorite people, the gregarious and dedicated Doris was the proverbial straw that stirred the drink that is St. Gregory Parish. It showed with how she cared so much for those of us who volunteered our time in ministry work. Among the things Doris and I had in common was our respective fights with cancer. Several months ago, I visited the rectory to see Fr. Hoyer, and Doris predictably asked how I was doing. When I told her that my recent tests showed that I was in remission, Doris came out from behind the desk, and we both began dancing--just as Fr. Hoyer came into the reception area. I looked at him and said: "Cancer survivors." He enjoyed a good laugh. What a lady! May God bless Doris and her family.

Aunt Doris was a lovely lady who always had a smile and usually a funny story for us. We will always remember the times she played the piano or organ and we had sing alongs. She was a terrific dancer and we loved watching her dance. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered always.

I had the pleasure of serving Doris ï¸ï¸an her fun loving caring friends every wednsday at Umbertos Restsurant for several years .she was the most caring loving generous personality plus woman I ever met .always a smile on her face .an always so polite ï¸ï¸an well dressed ï¸ï¸an well groomed my prayers and thoughts are with all ï¸ï¸an my condolences . Fun and always making the best of every situation. Doris used the talent God gave her to its fullest . Her music helped so many pray and her good nature gave every one a lift. Our children attended Holy Rosary Elementary in Perrine and she was involved in all the activities, besides running the recrtory office...in other words the church. She just took it all in stride She and I were coaches for the Gulf Chicks soft ball team and because of her, I had more fun than anyone! She just touched so many lives never realizing the power of her smile, in Perrine, her laughter always has a tut tut at the end. Anyone else remember that? I admired her for many reasons and I loved being in her company. With moving I haven't seen Doris for many years but just hearing her name is like living our youth again. Funny, humorous, witty, (the Irish in you!), generous, compassionate, empathic, full of laughs, always ready to help, earthy, sharing, caring... all of these attributes were so generously shared with us, especially when we experienced a loss of one of our beloved Sisters. Pray for us dear friend and keep the Lord laughing!

Doris, I missed seeing you at the Dolphin game yesterday. I know you were smiling up in Heaven at what you saw. Seriously, I will miss your smiling face and the many conversations we shared when I would come to the rectory.

Doris, Every Tuesday and every Thursday you handed me the key to the RMR, always greeted me with a great smile. You will be eating my flan in heaven everyday. I will miss you and hope to see you in heaven someday.

I remember how courageous she was when her husband passed....she planned the funeral mass and played the organ!!!! I am blessed to have been in her presence so many times working here at St Gregory....I am certain she is dancing with her husband and still laughing!!! Pray for us Doris...see you then!

Six years ago I met Doris Flynn at the rectory prior to being interviewed by Monsignor Fogarty for my current position at Saint Gregory The Great School Doris made me feel comfortable, and relaxed. She was very kind, warm and very professional. Later after being interviewed I went home with a very positive feeling about Saint Gregory and especially Doris Flynn.. Doris and I remained friends for the next six years.

An absolutely determined, strong, fun loving font of knowledge! Doris was a mentor to me in many ways. She will live on in my heart and memory, and in my prayers. Doris' life touched so many people in ways that she wasn't even aware of. Her blunt and direct manner was shared by us 'New Yorkers' as the only way to be! Honest, forthcoming, courageous and strong! Doris loved to laugh, appreciated a good joke, enjoyed her twizzlers and tea, and shared every delicious piece of chocolate she had stashed away for times of stress. Doris was the central brain in this organization, and she will be sorely missed. I will remember her fondly, trying to keep up with her 77 year old energy - still wearing heels - coming in early and staying late just to be certain things ran right... She was a confidant and a true friend. I loved her dearly.

It is with heavy hearts that we inform you that our beloved Doris Flynn passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2015. She had worked in our rectory front office for over 20 years. Everyone who entered the rectory had the pleasure of meeting Doris who always had a smile on her face and a box of tasty chocolates at her side. She amazed all of us with her charm and ability to answer every question about our St. Gregory Church and School. Throughout her years of service, she was known as the "brain" behind the Church calendar. Only Doris knew how to organize a whole year of baptisms, marriages, retreats, and special occasions so that everyone left her office happy. She cherished her time at St. Gregory Catholic Church and School. Doris will be greatly missed by the St. Gregory family. She will always be our angel who makes a difference in all our lives.

We have been so blessed to have Doris with us all these years at St. Gregory's. I always looked forward to stopping by the rectory because Doris' greeting could make the rainest days seem sunny. Her smile radiated genuine love and concern for everyone she came in contact with. She was a beautiful lady with a beautiful heart and she will be greatly missed. All of my love Doris.

We were very honored to have known Doris and blessed to have had her in our lives. We always looked forward to seeing her face when we visited Florida and hearing her voice every time we called St. Gregory's. She will be missed. Our sincerest condolences go out to the Flynn family.

Somehow, Doris managed to keep all of us at St. Gregory organized--parishoners, school families and priests and staff--for the last 20 years! She will be prayerfully missed by all of us. My sincere condolences to Doris' family.

So many memories that it will take a long time to relive. We grew up together, lived next door to each other for 21 yrs. then she moved to S.Fla. where I llived, nearby & I got to see Brian and Lisa growing up. She planned to be with me here in Wilmington, NC the 25th. She will be missed by all of us and so many others. Doris was my 1st cousin.

Heaven gained a Angel when the Lord called Doris home! Doris was truly a inspiration to me, I can't remember a time in the past 47 years that she wasn't positive and upbeat. She will be missed greatly but I know she will continue to watch over all of us! We love you Doris!

Although not related by blood she was always an Aunt to me nevertheless. I know that she, Uncle Jimmy and my Dad are again having a lot of fun and laughs together in heaven.

I will always remember Doris as a happy, generous, caring person - always ready to offer a helping hand and a welcoming smile. She will be greatly missed at St. Matthew and I am sure at St. Gregory as well. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this difficult time.

I had the pleasure of meeting Doris and breaking bread with her on numerous occasions while vacationing in South Florida! Doris was charming and witty as well as the most energetic person I had ever met! Heaven truly gained an Angel in Doris! God Bless! RIP!
