

Edith Maddox Coan took her Lord's hand and left this earth on Monday the 26th January 2015. She was born on Aug. 15, 1930 in Missouri, the only child of John W. and Virginia B. Maddox. Graduated with B.S. in Education from Truman University in Kirksville, MO. Married the only love of her life, Dr. Richard D. Coan of Deland, FL. Jan. 19, 1952. Together they were loving parents and raised 4 outstanding sons, John Richard, William Patrick (Deborah), Andrew Bryant and Paul Edward (Maike) Coan. She adored 7 grandchildren, Matthew Richard, Kyle Stova, William Travis, Taylor Lynn, Hannah Morgan, Maya Olivia and Richard William. Married for 59 years. Edith and Richard resided for over 50 years in Plantation. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Ft. Lauderdale, Chapter AH Sisterhood of PEO, Bookfellows of Ft. Lauderdale, Lighthouse Point Chapter of DAR and Tri-gate Chapter of Order of Eastern Star. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 30, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Fred Hunter Funeral Home, 718 S. Federal Highway, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33316. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 12 Noon at the funeral home with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Ft. Lauderdale.
