

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Elaine ‘Maizie’ Hing, who passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024, at the age of 64. Elaine Maureen Lee was born on April 22, 1960, in Kingston, Jamaica, to Horace Lee and Hazel Wan and later raised by Ina Hoo-You who preceded her in death. She was the loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all who knew her.
Elaine’s cherished siblings include Barbara, Andrea, and Rowan (Tony), and her predeceased brothers: Winston (Jimmy), Errol, Howard (Van), and Khan.
In August 1981, Elaine married the love of her life, Victor Lyew Hing in Miami, Florida. Together they built a beautiful family. She was the proud and nurturing mother to her daughter Susanne, son-in-law Maurice, son Christopher, daughter-in-law Tatjana, and son Stephen. Elaine was also an adoring grandmother to Gabriella and Matthew Harrell, and her legacy will live on through the love and wisdom she imparted to them.
Elaine's warm heart, sense of humor, and fierce loyalty made her a pillar of strength and joy in the lives of those who loved her. She was known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for her family and friends. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her memory will be cherished forever.
Elaine is survived by her beloved husband Victor, children, grandchildren, siblings, and extended family. Her passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but her spirit will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life on Saturday, January 11, 2025, 11:00 am at Cooper City Church of God. The internment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Gardens North.
