In 1946 Elethia married Egbert Robinson Smith, a police officer from Kendal, Manchester, Jamaica who pre-deceased her on November 26th 1973. Their union produced three children: Lenworth Conway, Ivor Vandenberg (deceased in 1992) and Judith Angela.
Elethia was employed at F.W. Woolworth &CO (Jamaica) Limited, where she rose to the position of Manager at the Village Shopping Centre store, then managed their King's Plaza store and ended her career in Jamaica as the Manager of the Company's warehouse.
In 1980 she migrated to New York, USA and initially worked at the Woolworth Store on Flatbush Avenue. After a short stint, Elethia decided to embrace her nurturing side. While working at Woolworth, she studied for, sat and passed the examination to become a nurse's aide. She was then employed at Mary Manning Walsh Nursing Home in Manhattan until her retirement in 1993.
She is survived by:

DAUGHTER IN-LAW: Juliet Smith
SISTERS: Helen Hall and Mavis McIntosh
BROTHERS: Vernon and Rupert McIntosh
GRAND CHILDREN and SPOUSES: Stephanie Ramnarine (Bobby); Kwesi, Kwame (Nafesa), Shalewa and Latisha Smith
GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Indira and Vishal Ramnarine; Akili and Aziza Smith
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
