Ernesto Caparelli

Ernie was born in Cosenza, Italy to Angelo and Ilia Caparelli on June 20, 1941.  By the age of 15 he became a black smith’s apprentice and in 1957 moved to the United States where he took residence in New York. Five years after coming to the United States he met his wife, Irma Lopez Caparelli while attending night school. With his background as a Blacksmith, he started working in the Steel industry and eventually became the lead Foreman for Farmingdale Iron Works, located on Long Island, NY. In 1970 he moved his family to Miami, FL and shortly thereafter he and his brother, Frank, founded Hollywood Iron Works & Fence Co., currently known as Hollywood Iron Works, Inc. Ernie made this company one of the leading steel fabrication contractors in South Florida. After 53 years, Hollywood Iron Works is still thriving, and remains family owned and operated. During his life, Ernie was heavily involved in commercial & residential real estate developing. He also shared ownership in The Pines Ice Arena, located in Pembroke Pines, Fl. and The Kendall Ice Arena located in Kendall, Fl.  

Ernie is preceded in death by his son, Angelo Caparelli, his brothers Frank and Sem Caparelli and sister Maria Issacs.  

Ernie is survived by his wife, Irma Caparelli. His children Joseph (Tani) Caparelli, Frank (Melisa) Caparelli and Gabrieli (Angelica) Caparelli.  Five grandchildren, Talia, Zack, Cole, Lachlan and Harper Caparelli, and sister Eva Guidi.

The viewing will be Wednesday 12/27 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM at Fred Hunters Funeral Home, 6301 Taft St, Hollywood, FL 33024

Funeral services will be held on 12/28 at 10AM at Saint David’s Church, 900 S University Dr, Davie, FL 33328. Burial will follow immediately at Fred Hunters Memorial Gardens, West, 6301 Taft St, Hollywood, FL 33024

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in his name.
