

Ethel H. Thomas was born September 24th,1945 in Coffeeville, AL to the late Henry and Mattie Pearl Heartfield Jr. Ethel graduated from Clarke County Training School in Coffeeville, AL. She earned her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Certificate at Carver State Vocational Center in Mobile, AL. She continued her education at Bishop State Junior College in Mobile, Alabama where she received her Associate of Science Nursing degree in 1977, becoming a Registered Nurse (RN).
Ethel relocated her family to Miami, FL in 1983. She was swiftly employed by various medical facilities as a RN. In 2003, Ethel completed her education at Florida International University earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in
Nursing. She was currently employed at the
University of Miami Hospital where her career and way of life ended on June 25, 2012.
Ethel is survived by her three children: Louis C. (Inez) Thomas Jr. of Mobile, Alabama, Trisha Thomas of Mobile, Alabama and Ashley
Thomas of Miami Gardens, FL; eight
grandchildren: Princess Freeman, Angelica
Thomas, Sammy Lee Knight, Ta'Neisa Kemp, Tyrese Thomas, Izayah Thomas, Elijah Thomas and Maleah Thomas; Eight siblings: Willie Mae (Arthur) Slater (deceased), Charles Henry
Heartfield (deceased), Dessie Mae Heartfield, Mary Shaw, Johnnie (Vivian) Heartfield, Delois (Edward) Bryant, Dorothy (Roosevelt) Curry, Regina (William Jr.) Manley; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Ethel is also survived by her longtime friend, Brenda Campbell and Godson, Christian Campbell.
