I miss you Ethel. You were a great mother-in-law and you gave me one of your prized possessions, your son. There's not many people who can truly say that they love their in laws or even like them. I thank you for welcoming me and my son Izayah into the Thomas family. Thanks for the advise that you gave me on numerous occasions and putting Louis in check when he needed it (he's a better man today for it). I will miss your smile and your hospitality when we visited. I will miss those pecan pies that you would make just for me. I love you and I miss you much.

When I in my room alone I think about both of my grandmas and sometimes I cry,but I know I shouldn't because I will be strong and I will trust and believe so I can see her again.So long my beloved angel and I will hope to see you again in the name of Jesus.

We the Clark County Training School Class of 1963 do remember Ethel Lee Heartfield to be a productive link in our growth process from grade school to high school graduation. In our senior class play, Hessie of the Hills, Ethel brought life to her character, "Bertha". In pursuit of academic excellence, she was class Salutatorian. As a person, she danced, smiled and sang a few notes in the school choir. Yet, the childish things of life never derailed her from seeking to be the best possible person she could become.Ethel's was the person in our small class of 23 people that defused any conflict because she was everyone's friend.After high school, we separated to pursue our chosen career paths but remain ever bound by the shared years of true friendship of our undergraduate years.I now declare, we the class of 1963 will be missing you Ethel but do know we will meet again in God's appointed time. You have joined three other members of our class and I know there is a party going own right now!
