Franklin was born November 10, 1926, in Gonaives, Haiti to the parents of Emmanuel Jerome and Anne Louisdor. Franklin married Marie Catherine Bernadette Jerome on December 20, 1960. Two children were born from this union: Jean Herve Jerome and Franklin Jerome Jr. The family emigrated to New York in September 1967 with her father, Extrac Pierre Antoine. Franklin loved running his own yellow taxicab business as a sole proprietor for 30 years and meeting “Manhattanites”. Franklin was an extraordinary cook with his favorite dish of Haitian black rice. Warm friendships were a common theme with him. Fashion was a mainstay as he wore stylish suits and ties often. Words of wisdom to bestow awareness were close to his lips. A few favorite sayings he had were “La sauce coûte plus cher que le poisson’’ and “Celle le silence est grand’’.
His wife passed away before him in August 1987. He then joined his wonderful companion Marie Patricia Vasquez (whom was a longtime friend of his and the family) in New York later and moved to Mami, Florida in 1989 with her. He spent the last 30 years of his life in Florida with her. One son was born from this union. His name is Emmanuel Jerome, named after his grandfather. The family of three would later move to Hollywood, FL in 2002. Franklin enjoyed many years of his life in Hollywood, FL with Marie Patricia, as he called her “Patouche”, and raising their son.
Franklin leaves to cherish his loving memory his children, Jean Herve, Franklin Jr, Emmanuel, and Marie Marlene, his daughters in laws, Doris and Marie, his grandchildren, Kristen and her husband Jeff, Alyssa, and Lincoln, his great granddaughter Jayde Olivia Smith.
