
George was born in Jersey City, NJ but called Florida his home for almost 40 years. Son of Marie Benke and RoccoVincent Faliero, served four years in the U.S. Army; company G, 1st infantry division. After training at Fort Dix, he was assigned to a post in Germany.
He was a registered X-Ray technician, working at several hospitals including the Veterans Administration Hospital in Newark, N. J., Hollywood Memorial Hospital, and later took a job at the Hollywood Recreation Center on Polk Street. George was an artist and started painting pictures at the age of 14 when he was asked to paint murals during the holidays on his school's windows. Family and friends are the proud recipients of his work.
George loved all types of music, and amassed an extensive collection of records. He listened to them during every waking hour at home. George preferred a bicycle as his mode of transportation and used it to travel all over Hollywood.
George is survived by his sister, Lorraine Abate, half-sister Nancy Petroccione, nieces Joann Meyer and Donna Abate and several nieces and one nephew and grand-nephews. He was lovingly known as "UNK" by his nieces and grand nephews. Predeceased by half brothers Peter Faliero, John Benke, half sister's Angela Garafalo, and Lucille Nicholson.
Private cremation services will be held by the family. George's remains will be interred at the South National Veterans Cemetery in Lake worth, Florida. George's charities of choice are the Cancer Society, The DisabledVeterans and Alzheimers Research.
