George Edward Taylor

George was born in Opa Locka, FL to Francis and MaryAnn Taylor on March 4, 1950.  He went to school in Miami Springs.  He married Joyce Illingworth on August 8th, 1981 in Miami. He worked as a mechanical plans examiner for Miami-Dade and the City of Doral for many years.  He was an enthusiastic and active member of the Airboat Association of South Florida. George was a proud patriot who loved God, Family and Country. He had an active and inquisitive mind – he loved building airboats, collecting engines and pondering the workings of the universe. 

George is preceded in death by his father Francis S. Taylor, his mother MaryAnn G. Taylor, his brother Kevin Taylor and his sister Shirley Taylor-Prakelt.  

George is survived by his wife Joyce, his daughter Kerrie Harper and her husband Keith Harper, his son Brian Taylor and his wife Danielle Taylor, his brother Kenneth Taylor and his wife Maria Taylor, and his three granddaughters, Katharine Harper, Kendall Harper and Zoey Taylor. 

Visitation will be at 1 PM on Thursday June 22nd, 2023 at at Fred Hunter’s in Hollywood. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM also on Thursday June 22nd at Fred Hunter’s in Hollywood. 

The family of George Taylor wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Vitas Hospice, Nspire of Plantation Nursing Home and Pastor Tim Lott with whom George shared a special connection on his spiritual journey. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
