Gheorghe Dume

Gheorghe was born in Forosig to Petru and Teresa Dume on October 30, 1935, in a Christian Baptist family.  He went to primary school in Forosig, and completed professional school in Timisoara.  He married Ecaterina Dume on February 21, 1959 in Oradea, Baptist Church Number Three. He graduated from Master’s Electrician Technical School in Oradea.  He worked as a master’s electrician for Sinteza in Oradea for 25 years, and Uniflex in Pompano, Florida, for 20 years.  He served in the Romanian Army from ages 19 to 21, and continued on within the Police Academy in Bucharest, Romania until the age of 23. He was involved in the Romanian Baptist Church Number Three and Two of Oradea, and the New Life Romanian Baptist Church of Hollywood, Florida. While in Romania, he was involved in missionary work in Bihor County with Pastor Puie, serving eight countryside churches. He retained his seat on the New Life Romanian Baptist Church Elders Committee, and was a Sunday school teacher for church members. Gheorghe was part of the team that held and led Sunday church prayers at New Life Romanian Baptist Church. He enriched the lives of his family, communities, and neighbors throughout his time here, opening new frontiers and serving as the pillar of his family.  

Gheorghe is preceded in death by his parents, Petru and Teresa Dume, his sister, Sarica Torj, and his sons, Remus Ovidiu Dume, and Virgil Mircea Dume, and his good friends Brothers Sipos and Barb. 

Gheorghe is survived by his wife, Ecaterina Dume, his daughter, Mariana Bitere, his daughter in law, Nicoleta Dume, his brother, Vasile Dume, and his grandchildren Andrei Dume, Emanuel Dume, Raluca Litke, Rucsandra Bitere, Ana-Maria Bitere, and David Dume, and his eight great-grandchildren.

The memorial service will be from 7-9pm on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at New Life Romanian Baptist Church, 1950 Van Buren Street Hollywood, Florida 33020.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Fred Hunter’s Funeral Home, 6301 Taft Street Hollywood, Florida. Pastor Florin Vancea of New Life Romanian Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Fred Hunter’s Cemetery, arrangements by Fred Hunter’s.
