Glenn was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, on October 2, 1957 to Robert James and Leatrice (DeCavalcanti) Marson. Although he lived the majority of his youth in Cranford, New Jersey, he also spent an adventurous four years in Johannesburg, South Africa where his father had accepted a business transfer. He later returned there in 1987 during a year spent traveling abroad.
Glenn was a man of many facets. As a successful independent business owner, he tuned, repaired, and refinished pianos, often for the Cranford public schools as well as other businesses and private clients in the state of New Jersey and Florida. He gave private lessons on the piano and electronic keyboards, teaching both his nephews to play, passing on the family musical legacy to the next generation. His first and greatest love, however, was musical performance and composition. He played in various rock bands throughout the years. More than one well-known New Jersey artist had been heard to compliment Glenn's musical skill and talent. All have agreed that he made the world a better place with his music.
Glenn leaves behind a large and loving extended family. He is survived by his beloved mother, Leatrice Lourdes Marson, his brother Bruce Marson and wife Lisa Marson, and his sister, Jazzmyn Banks and her sons, nephew Stephen Kain and his wife Hadia and nephew Austin Stoddart and his wife Issabela. He is also survived by his dear aunts and uncle, Renee Rosomoff, Carmen and Mary DeSimone, Virginia "Gigi" Greene and Mary DeCavalcanti, as well as many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert James Marson in 2001.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made, in memory of Glenn, to the ASCAP Foundation [https://ascapfoundation.org], an organization that funds music education, talent development and humanitarian programs that serve the entire music community.
