

Gloria L. Billings, 66, passed away on May 18, 2024, in Hollywood, FL. Born on September 24, 1957, in Phenix City, AL, she was the daughter of Leroy (ED) Dixon and Mary Alice Averett (Dixon). Gloria attended local schools and majored in accounting. During her school years, she played various sports, including softball and basketball. She later married the love of her life, Hershel Billings, but life's changes eventually led to their separation.
Throughout her career, Gloria worked in various jobs, including as a dishwasher, interior designer, and seamstress at Bamboo Abbott, where she made custom bamboo blinds and even had the opportunity to work for football player Dan Marino. She retired in that field.
Gloria was actively involved in ministry at Faith Deliverance Cathedral under the leadership of Dr. James Rorie for over 20 years, serving as a Sunday school teacher and usher, and assisting wherever needed. Her devotion to the ministry earned her several awards, and those who knew her admired her deep knowledge of the word of God and her wise counsel.
Known affectionately as “Jean" and "Weezy," Gloria was the youngest in her family, with siblings including Leroy (Rev) Dixon, Earlene (Lady) Chambers, Robert (Bob) Dixon, and Janice Dixon- Middlebrook. She is survived by her two loving sons, Cory T. Billings and Brandon K. Billings, and her daughter-in-law, Rosie N. Billings.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
