Gloria (FLO) was born in to Cordelia and Harold Chambers in Kingston Jamaica. She and her siblings (Leslie Hoyes (brother), Monica and Elaine Chambers (sisters)) grew up in Swallowfield, Kingston. She attended Saint Francis Elementary School (Nun's Pen) and Saint Joseph Teacher's College (Jamaica).
She migrated to the United States (New York City) in 1958 to further her studies where she received her Master's Degree in education from New York University. Gloria taught early childhood education in Manhattan and Brooklyn schools and was nominated "Teacher of the Year" in the 60's.
Gloria met and married Eric (Ricky) Miller in 1961 and from that union they had two children Dean and Wendy.
She retired in 1985 and relocated to Century Village, Florida. In 1993, she met Lindo Deverger and they later married in 1995.
She is preceded in death by her husband Lindo Deverger, her parents Cordelia and Harold Chambers and brother Leslie Hoyes.

Gloria was an avid traveler and had the opportunity to share in her travels with friends and family to places such as Portugal, England, Africa and Panama just to name a few. I would be remiss if I did not mention her annual trips to Las Vegas where some of you have fond memories of her.
She was truly blessed in ways that allowed her to be generous to anyone in need and was always ready to provide and support as needed. She will be remembered for her unselfish love, caring and smiling face that lit up a room. She was always reaching out to others, even in her illness. She will be greatly missed.
The family gratefully acknowledges with deep appreciation the many expressions of friendship and love during Gloria's illness. Those who visited, called, and prayed for her. Words are somehow inadequate to express our gratitude to those of you who have travelled from New York and other far-away places to be with us here today.
We pray that you will be safe while you are here and God will take you safely back to your homes.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you
Dean and Wendy
And the rest of the family
