
Hala Lea'aevai Netane, age 69, born on July 10, 1942, returned home to his father in heaven on December 14, 2011 at the age of 69. He is the son of Tevita Veatoutai Netane, from Ha'alaufuli, Tonga, and Vika Falekaono Netane, from Ma'ufanga, Tonga. He is survived by his loving wife, Teisa and 7 children, Tia, David, Tilema, Lokelani, Haloti, Hala Jr.,and Kirkome, along with 7 grandchildren Paul, Siki, Dallin, David, Lana, Marcus, and Nephi and 1 great grand daugther Regina. He will also be missed by his family, especially his brothers and sisters.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved serving and helping others. During the last few years of his life he continued to serve and help others as a missionary in the church welfare program at the cannery. He retired as an aircraft mechanic in 2004 with 36 years of service with Pan Am and United Airlines. After retirement, he traveled back to his home in Ha'alaufuli, Tonga and designed and built a water tower for the village.
He was a man of strength and integrity and had such a great love for everyone he came in contact with. He loved to laugh and joke and his smile was guaranteed to brighten up any room. He welcomed all with open arms and made you feel as if you were family. Hala was a proud father and husband and he loved spending time with his family.
A viewing will be held in his honor on Tuesday December 20, 2011 from 7pm-10pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 510 N 35th Ave, Hollywood, FL 33021. The funeral services will be held on Wednesday December 21 from 10am-12pm also at the same location. Following the funeral services the burial will be at Hollywood Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 6301 Taft Street Hollywood.
