

Henry Alfonso Longo, of Dania Beach and Hollywood, passed away peacefully at age 88 on August 19, 2024. Born in Brooklyn, NY, on July 6, 1936 to Mary and Alfonso Longo and later stepfather John Bux. He dedicated his life to nurturing his family and excelled as a dedicated husband and caregiver to Betty Ann, married in 1964 for 48 years. Henry was a loving father figure to Billy, Julie and Larry, and a doting grandfather to five grandchildren. He loved his many Longo family relationships, and that of his and Betty-Ann friendship with the Sara Skidmore family.
He graduated from South Broward High School 1954, and later joined the U.S. Air Force. Following his Honorable Discharge, Henry took over the family jewelry business, followed by joining the Maintenance Division of the Board of Education of Broward County. Henry has always been a civic minded person and was a member of countless organizations. They include the Junior Chamber of Commerce, Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks, Loyal Order of the Moose, America Legion Post 92, Kiwanis Club of Hollywood, and the Independent Showmen's Association. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Broward County Fair.
He was a Freemason where some of his best friends were made through the fraternity. He was a Master Mason in the Hollywood Roe Fulkerson Lodge No 299.
Henry joined the Miami Scottish Rite, Mahi Shriners in 1975, and the Joel Ribler Shrine Club, and participated in the Ambassadors, Greeters, and the Mariner units. He was a two term President in the Shrine Club in 2001 and 2004, also served twice as a Potentate's Aide.
Henry touched the loves of many and will be missed by his family and his life-long friends. May your life in the hereafter be filled with many blessings and may you be reunited with your beloved family, wife, and friends.

Visitation at Fred Hunter's Funeral Home, 6301 Taft St, Hollywood, FL 33024 will be Friday, August 30, 2024, 4:00-8:00pm and Saturday, August 31, 2024, 9:00am until time of funeral service at 10:00am. Interment to follow in Fred Hunter's Hollywood Memorial Gardens North, 3001 N 72nd Ave, Hollywood, FL 33024.
