
Iva Jane Barnett was born on the beautiful island of Nassau Bahamas on September 2nd, 1939 to the late Daniel Pinder and Lena (Johnson) Armbrister. As a young lady Iva was hard working, ambitious, dedicated, and always strived to improve and better her circumstances.After completing grade school Iva worked as a house maid, and also as a cashier at the Flying Dutchman Store for many years. After leaving this position, Iva worked for a short period as a house maid in Lyford Cay, before relocating to New York, USA in 1979; where she worked for approximately six months as a caretaker. However because of the bitter cold weather, she returned to the Bahamas; but only for a brief period, before relocating again to the USA in 1982; to sunny Miami, Florida, endeavoring to have a better life, not only for herself, but her children.Iva worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for various Home Health Agencies, including a Long Term Care Facility. She was diligent, friendly, empathetic, compassionate, kind, loyal, and trustworthy. Iva was a great friend and confidant. Iva married the late Maurice Barnett in 1983.On Sunday October 24th, 2021 in the early hours, Iva transitioned from her earthly to heavenly home peacefully.
Iva is the mother of six children, of whom two have predeceased her; Kirk Edward Bailey (deceased) and Kendal Levine Gibson (deceased).Left not only to mourn her passing, but to celebrate Iva’s life are her four remaining children, Clarence Woodside, Joanne Woodside, and Chief Superintendent of Police, Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) Wayne Woodside, and Sargeant 2109 Bradley Woodside, of the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF). Two daughters-in-law, Dena Woodside, and Raphaleeta Woodside. Sixteen grandchildren: Shamara Johnson, Clarence Woodside Jr., Jordan Woodside, deneko woodside, dakarai woodside, Tanai Miller, Ashley Woodside, Branika woodside, Shakeem Woodside, Bijzhad Woodside, Toriano, Kristen, and Kelsey Archer, Nicarra Deveaux, Andre Ellis, Victor Portillo, and Brandi Williams. Seven Great Grand Children: Nickera and Markquell Bethel, Deonte Bodie , Kyrie Johnson, Brooklyn and Kaleb Ellis, and Clarmarion Woodside Seven sisters: Gloria Pinder (deceased), Victoria Russell, Margaret Armbrister, Audrey Bailey, Rose Pratt, Leila Armbrister, and Mildred Stubbs.
Iva was predeceased by three brothers; William and Melvin Armbrister, and Anthony Pinder. Sister-in-law: Margaret Armbrister, Ruth Pinder (deceased) Brothers-in-law: Jeffery Pratt and Felix Russell Neices: Carolyn Maycock, Hyacinth Johnson, Vestra Adderley, Rosalee Pinder Norleen Hen-field, Anastacia Taylor, Charmaine Williams, Shannon Smith, Neika Russell, Shannel Thurston, Brendalee Pinder, Tamel Lantigua, YvetteNephews: Anthony Pinder Jr., Ricardo and Garth Pyfrom, Rico Cooper, Peter Munroe, Bradley Russell, Ezra Russell, Brandon, Dorian, and Donovan Stubb, Jeron Pratt, Byron and Ryan Armbrister, Melvin Armbrister Jr., Calvin, Lorenzo Armbrister. Grand nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends including, special childhood friend, Mary Lewis and children, and cousin Betty Jackson.
