James Nehemiah Francis Sr.

Bishop. Dr. James Nehemiah Francis, Sr., was born on March 25, 1951, to David and Esther Francis in Kingston, Jamaica. James was the fourth of twelve children born to this union, with six brothers and five sisters. James passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, minister, and community leader who leaves behind a legacy of love and inspiration.

James was a loving husband to Edna Francis for almost 50 years. James was a proud father to Sharice Nwankwo (Chidi), Crystal Walker (Yohance), James Francis, Jr. (Saba), and Justin Francis (Aasha). He was a cherished grandfather to six grandchildren, Christiana, Serena, Michael, Yohanna, Justin II and Araya. His family was his greatest joy, and he dedicated his life to supporting them.

In addition to his wife and children, James is survived by three sisters: Herma, Lynette, and Loris, and five brothers: Samuel, Headley, Derrick, Marvel, and Lloyd. James also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends all around the world.

James was preceded in death by his parents, David and Esther, sisters Thelma and Christine, and brother Sydney, Sr., along with all of his aunts and uncles.

Throughout his life, James wore many hats. He spent significant time in New York City, working on Wall Street as a stockbroker before moving to Miami, where he became an influential pastor and entrepreneur. He planted the North Dade Church of God in 1983 which later became Monument of Faith Ministries. He Pastored this church for 40 years. His work in real estate led him to become a respected figure in the industry, known for his commitment to helping others achieve their dreams.

Dr. Francis also traveled the world extensively whether he was preaching or just visiting a particular country. Countries he's visited include Ghana, Korea, Nigeria, Brazil, The U.K., Israel (multiple times), Germany, South Africa, The Philippines, Kenya, India, China, Hong Kong, Trinidad and Tobago, Canada and many more! Dr. Francis was a vibrant and energetic preacher! He mentored countless Pastors many of which still have vibrant, thriving churches to this day.

James was not only a businessman but also a spiritual leader who touched countless lives with his wisdom and compassion. His sermons and guidance inspired many to lead more fulfilling lives and place their faith in Jesus Christ. James was an advocate of learning and knowledge, and he pursued higher education by earning a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees.

In his later years, James found peace in Atlanta, where he was an active part of his community and spent quality time with his family. His kindness, sense of humor, wisdom, and love will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

James Nehemiah Francis leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and entrepreneurship.

We thank God for the time we had with James and the gratitude he expressed for the saving grace God provided him as he spread the gospel. His spirit will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones and all whose lives he influenced.
