Joan Agnes McCarthy, 86, of Plantation, Florida passed away January 24, 2016. She has been a resident of South Florida for the past 49 years, coming from New York. Joan was an Eucharistic Minister at St. Gregory Catholic Church. She belonged to the St. Gregory Woman's Guild where she was very active and was the treasurer for 8 years. She was a member of GFWC Plantation Woman's Club serving in many areas; the newsletter committee, the GFWC Florida reports committee, Education chairman, recording secretary and corresponding secretary. She was a member of the Plantation Newcomers, and The Friends of the Library at the Helen B. Hoffman Library in Plantation. She played bridge two or three times a week and played Mahjong weekly. Joan enjoyed having lunch with the girls after there board meetings. Joan is survived by her children; James J., Robert F., Richard G., and Katherine Read, her grandchildren, Michael, Laura, Justin, James, Jennifer, and Jessica, and her great grandchildren; Shaun, Codi, Giorgia Grace, Gracie, Morghan, Lucas, and Jayden.
