

Joseph Michael McHugh of Davie, Florida passed away on Saturday June 24, 2017. He was most commonly known as Mike, at the time of his passing and was 80 years old. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather,brother and business owner. Joseph was born in Montclair, New Jersey where he was raised by his mother and father Joseph McHugh and Elizabeth McHugh. He graduated from Saint Benedicts Prep and Seton Hall University.
Mike was the owner of Country Western Store and Long Branch Saloon of Davie, Florida. Later he moved to north Florida and owned Oak Country Farm and McHugh Thoroughbred's in McAlpin, Florida. He was a parishioner of Saint Bernadette, All Saints, Saint David's,St. Bonaventure, Nativity, Saint Gregory's, Epiphany, San Juan Mission and Saint Francis Catholic Churches.
Mike was the patriarch of the family. He was a charismatic and passionate force who was relentlessly driven to be successful and make everyone around him better. He was dedicated to providing for his family the ideals that he believed in such as; loyalty, hard work and a strong faith.
Survived by his loving children Michael T. McHugh (Lynne McHugh), Patrick J. McHugh (Gloria McHugh), Elizabeth A. McHugh, Honorable Judge Kathleen M. McHugh, and Meghan M. McHugh (Van Tibolli). Predeceased by his youngest son Gregory L. McHugh. Survived by his former wives Helen A. McHugh Crumlish (Pap Pap) and Anita M. McHugh (Shepley Haynes). Survived by his siblings Donald McHugh (Patricia McHugh) Fred McHugh (Sandy McHugh), Patricia Robinson (Daryl Robinson). Predeceased by his siblings Richard G. McHugh and Arlene McHugh (Mitch Schnider).
Grandchildren are Alexandra C. Langley (Clark Langley), Michael T. McHugh, Melanie L. McHugh, Robert McHugh, Gabriela J. McHugh, Predeceased by Amanda C. McHugh. Great Grandchildren Jaiden Langley and Layla C. Langley.
Visitation on Monday June 26th 5-8pm at Fred Hunter's University Drive Home, 2401 South University Drive, Davie. A Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday, June 27th at 11:00 am at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 7450 Stirling Road, Davie. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the St. Bernadette Scholarship Fund in memory of J. Michael McHugh which he supported for many years.
