Joyce W. Benedict

Joyce W. Benedict passed away on July 15, 2020. She was hospital bound at the time and succumbed to  multiple problems associated with internal circulations.    Joyce was a resident of Fort Lauderdale, FL for the past 20 years and prior to that lived in Westport, CT.   Joyce was 79 years old.  She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Harry J. Benedict;  her daughter, Brooke Benedict Valenti; and two grandsons, James and Thomas  Valenti.  There will be a private family service at All Saints Episcopal Church, Fort Lauderdale.

Early in her career, Joyce worked at Sage Allen Department Store in Hartford, CT as the Youth Fashion Director. While employed she attended the prestigious University of the Sorbonne  in Paris and studied fashion.  Joyce was always at the leading edge of fashion trends and such was an area of her expertise.  She was later employed by her alma mater, Bay Path University, in Longmeadow, MA as the Director of Student Activities.  In this position she offered creative activities as well as fashion insights to the students to help guide them as they stepped forward into the workforce.  Joyce’s working career ended many years ago as she chose to devote the majority of her years creating a beautiful life for her family.  Always, however, Joyce was a true lover of fashion and the arts.
