En honor a cómo Papi le recitaba poesía a Mami, aquí tenemos un poema original para usted Mami: 
Mami llego en este mundo como un rayo de sol,
Llena de compasión y mucho amor. Su existencia era su familia y nos cuido toda una vida. Ella era hamable, sincera y muy bonita por dentro y por fuera. 
Fuimos dichosos con una madre tan querida.
Verdaderamente nos sacamos la gran lotería.
Aunque nos va hacer mucha falta, debemos encontrar consuelo porque ella está en la gloria de Dios en el cielo. Nos podemos imaginar los juegos de carta que Mami está jugando todos los días, sin falta :-)
La adoramos nuestra Reina, Margaret, Frances y familias xox…

As some of you may or may not know, I was born in Nita's and Tio Felo's house in the same room my mother was born. Together with my mother, they both kept me alive. I was 7.5 months and my mother said 2.5 pounds. My mother had just come to visit and when she went into labor they thought it was a stomach ache from eating too many fresh chicharrones. So, in a way she and Tio Felo claimed me as another child. Their hearts were so huge. She and I shared a very special relationship. In a way I was like a child to her and in other ways we were like friends. I think she could share with me in ways that she had shared with my mother. She and I would follow her novelas on the radio and if I was doing mandados, she would tell me all about it when I came back. She had keen insight beyond other women of her time and similar limited education. She was a romantic and could imagine beauty beyond her experience. She could envision and appreciate beauty. She was a dreamer, who dreamt of love, kindness and beauty. She was very wise. Young people liked to talk with her and hear her insights. She could understand the life of a child, 5 cheles for ice when we made jugo de limón con avena, or letting me climb the limonsillo tree and sit and enjoy with all of us eating them, or batata asada before going to bed. And once in a while one of us would get un bóvo frito in her little pot with lots of oil to cook the top because the egg could not be flipped in the little pot. She was like another mother and her loss is very deep for me. She is the last one I lose, the end of a time long gone by. In the last 50+ years the world has probably changed more than in the previous 2,000. And she and her generation lived that transition: radio, television, planes, telephones, telegrams, cars, mail, going to space (Tio Felo used to say that the world had changed forever, and not for the better, when men went to the moon), coming to the US, etc. And she lived and grew with these changes while retaining a true sense of self and respect for her values. What an extraordinary life and how fortunate for us to have been guided by her and her example. And therefore, the greater the loss and space left in our hearts.
