Judith R. Nelson 59, passed away peacefully on Tuesday 22nd, 2014 at her home in Miramar Florida. Ms. "B" as she was affectionately called was born in Dunnsville, St. Ann, Jamaica on September 26th, 1954 to the late Collin Bailey and Orel Mckoy-Fenton. She spent her early childhood in Dunnsville under the loving care of her adoring grandparents, Philip and Eva Mckoy where she acquired an appreciation for nature and the value of family.
Upon graduating from Breadnut Hill Primary school at the age of twelve she moved to Kingston to join her mother, step-father and two brothers. While living in Kingston she continued her education at St. Monica's Col-lege. It was there that she developed a love for numbers and commerce which lead to her chosen profession as an accountant.
In 1972, Judith migrated to the United States and joined her mother in Miami with the dream of furthering her education. She enrolled at Lindsey Hopkins Education Center where she attended classes during the evenings while working a full-time job during the days. Upon the completion of her studies her focus transitioned to family and the pursuit of her career.
Her career path lead to progressively responsible positions with Glamor Top, Burdines Department Store, Georgia Pacific, and culminated with a nineteen year career with the City of Miramar.
Judith lived her life with fierce independence. She lived with dignity, honor and grace. She was passionate about life, her family and her friends. Her love for music and dancing was legendary and she took great pleasure in cooking and opening up her home to others. She prided herself on being fair to others and loved and appreciated all of God's creation.
Judith was a loving mother, devoted daughter, dedicated sister, committed family member and loyal friend to many.
She is survived by her daughter Nadia Nelson, son-in-law Adrian Hepburn, former husband Clive Nelson, mother Orel Fenton, step-father (Dad) Elkanah Fenton, brothers Horatio & Rohan Fenton. She also leaves behind uncles, Cyril McKoy and Joseph McKoy, Aunts Agatha Wilmot, Alice McKoy, Esmie Kerr, Beryl Coombs and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Judith was greatly loved and will be profoundly missed by those of us who loved her.
