Karen Ruth (Hanley) Carbone, 59, of Hollywood, Florida passed away on September 1, 2012 at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood under the care of Hospice-By-The-Sea, following a two year battle with lung cancer.
Karen was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on November 19, 1952 - one of 10 children, born to Christopher and Ruth (Steinberger) Hanley. At age 12, "Nooksie" (a nickname given to her by her late father) moved with her family to Englewood, New Jersey where she graduated from Englewood High School.
A resident of Hollywood, Florida since 1975, Karen was a Certified Nursing Assistant working with the elderly. In her spare time, she loved to visit the Hard Rock Casino and "donate" part of her paycheck to the slot machines.
Karen loved the holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. Karen prided herself on being able to cook a "mean bird" and those who were privileged enough to partake always agreed. Karen made an effort to make everyone feel especially loved on Christmas, where no one went without a gift.
Survived by her spouse - Ronald A. Frazier, four children - Eric Carbone, Andrea Carbone (and her husband Howard Simpson), Jessica and Marc Frazier and grandson - Roman Simpson. Also survived by her eight siblings - Lynn Drew, Christine Deambrosio, Donna Perlowski, Dennis Hanley, Kevin Hanley, Stephen Hanley, Robin Beasley and Billy Hanley, and her loving dog, Scooter!
A Memorial Gathering to Celebrate the Life of Karen will be held on Sunday, September 9th beginning at 1:00 P.M., with a service starting at 2:00 P.M. at Fred Hunter's Hollywood Memorial Garden Home, 6301 Taft Street in Hollywood. Interment will be private.
Donations will be accepted in lieu of flowers.http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR/RelayForLife/RFLCY13FL?pg=entry&fr_id=49938
